Frequently asked questions
When does an employer need EPF and ESIC registration?
Generally, EPF applies once an establishment has 20 or more employees, and ESIC applies to establishments with 10 or more employees in notified areas. Both are now governed by the Code on Social Security, 2020, in force from 21 November 2025.
